Hours worked per year

At 25 €/hour for 40 hours/week, that's about 50.000 € a year before tax.
Comparing an hourly wage to a salaried offer requires putting both in the same terms. This calculator converts an hourly rate into its annual and monthly equivalent.
Why 'weeks per year' matters
Salaried roles almost always include paid time off; hourly roles don't always. Using 52 weeks assumes no unpaid time off — lower this number if you expect unpaid weeks.
Frequently asked questions
This assumes a flat hourly rate for all hours entered — calculate overtime hours separately if your rate differs for extra hours.
APPROXIMATION, DISCLOSED: Germany does not use flat brackets — §32a EStG is a smooth, continuous formula (marginal rate rises gradually within two progression zones, 14%→24% then 24%→42%). This calculator approximates that curve with 17 narrow bands, each set to the true formula's rate at that band's midpoint (standard midpoint-rule numerical approximation) — not the exact statutory formula. Several independent third-party German tax calculators describe using the same technique for the same reason. Models a single taxpayer, Steuerklasse I, no church tax (optional, ~8-9% of income tax, only for registered church members), no children (the Pflegeversicherung childless surcharge of +0.6% is NOT included). Does not include Ehegattensplitting (income-splitting for married couples filing jointly). The Grundfreibetrag, zone thresholds, and social insurance contribution ceilings (Beitragsbemessungsgrenze) are adjusted every year, usually announced in the preceding autumn/winter.
